PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Parker James (ranked 4151 p4p, 4170 weight class) and Jujitsu John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Parker James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jujitsu John!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

John feints and as James raises his hands in defense, John changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
John missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for John on the ground.
James tries to land a sweep but no joy.
James being controlled here, momentarily.

James has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but John can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
John is looking to pass into half guard but James pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now James is in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

John is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well.

John has his feet on James's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Jujitsu John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James throws a body kick that misses.
John throws a right and a left that both miss.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

John sneaks out the side door and pushes James away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

John decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on James, up you get!

John avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
John tries to counter with a clinch but James shakes him off and moves away.

John gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

John pushes James off and scrambles back to his feet.
James lands with a nice body kick.

John looking to score a takedown here. James is defending well but John drives through and ends up in James's guard.
James avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

James looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
John content to stall in guard here.

John is looking to work some ground and pound but James has wrist control.
John seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

James looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jujitsu John dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


John looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for James!

James explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
John misses with the combination.

James decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

John kicks off James and gets to his feet.

John shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than John was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

John tries for a kimura but James is defending well.

James struggling a bit here.

John looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
John controls the position from side control.
James can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
John is staying tight to James's torso, preventing him from escaping.
You can see the frustration on James's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
John is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt James will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
James is trying to control John's posture but John avoids it.

James is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
John tries to move into full mount but can't pass James's legs.
John advances to mount.
John content just to control the position here.
James is working to get back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
John looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

John is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by John!
