Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dmitry Boytsov (ranked 1269 p4p, 2107 weight class) and Julio Cruzeiro (ranked 167 p4p, 249 weight class). Boytsov comes to the cage accompanied by AMAZING. Cruzeiro is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Jah Jah The Conqueror by Linval Thompson. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Julio Cruzeiro!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruzeiro connects with a solid leg kick.
Boytsov looks to throw the jab but Cruzeiro is out of range.
Boytsov walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Boytsov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cruzeiro throws the left hand but Boytsov avoids the punch easily.
Boytsov tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Cruzeiro manages to circle out of the way.

Cruzeiro just misses with a punch to the body.
It looked like Boytsov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Boytsov has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Boytsov there as he acknowledges the shot.

Boytsov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cruzeiro's guard.

Boytsov is looking to pass into half guard but Cruzeiro pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Cruzeiro is in guard.
Boytsov is trying to keep Cruzeiro in close.
Boytsov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cruzeiro stacks Boytsov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cruzeiro!
Cruzeiro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boytsov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

I was talking to Boytsov's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Cruzeiro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Boytsov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruzeiro doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cruzeiro manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boytsov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cruzeiro is aware though and is defending well.

Boytsov has his feet on Cruzeiro's thighs here. He's pushed Cruzeiro off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Cruzeiro screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
