Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tanaka Matsuda (ranked 357 p4p, 274 weight class) and Fotos Hasapis (ranked 47 p4p, 36 weight class). Matsuda comes to the cage accompanied by Gojira - Another World. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tanaka Matsuda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fotos Hasapis!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Felipe Paraventi and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hasapis gets caught napping as Matsuda dives in and scores a takedown. Hasapis manages to retain guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Matsuda's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hasapis can't keep his opponent in guard - Matsuda advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Matsuda winds up and cracks Hasapis with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hasapis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Matsuda looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Matsuda is keen to just control but Hasapis is a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matsuda tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hasapis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Matsuda wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hasapis keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hasapis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Matsuda trying to advance position but Hasapis counters by regaining guard.

Matsuda got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hasapis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Matsuda has managed to get both his arms back between Hasapis's legs - danger averted.
Matsuda is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Matsuda content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hasapis is trying to keep Matsuda in close.
Matsuda makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Matsuda chips away with some ground and pound.
Matsuda throws a big elbow that misses.
Matsuda postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Matsuda wants to pass the guard but Hasapis is keeping the position.
We've been hearing that Matsuda has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Hasapis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Matsuda manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hasapis lands a glancing blow to the side of Matsuda's head.
Hasapis throws a series of punches but Matsuda moves out of range.
Hasapis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Hasapis takes the fight into the clinch.

Matsuda tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Hasapis misses with a body punch.
Matsuda jumps guard but Hasapis stands there with Matsuda around his waist. Matsuda gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hasapis lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Matsuda looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Matsuda shoots in looking for a takedown but Hasapis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Matsuda's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Hasapis doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tanaka Matsuda. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hasapis scores with a hook.
Hasapis connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matsuda goes for a double leg but Hasapis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hasapis continues to drive forward.

Matsuda isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hasapis stacks Matsuda on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hasapis!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matsuda has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
