PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between alex reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Gammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). reid comes to the cage accompanied by rocky balboa. Matt Gammer is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gammer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

reid manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Gammer drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gammer jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Gammer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now reid is on top in guard.
Gammer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

reid wants to get up but he can't break Gammer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Gammer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. reid is aware though and is defending well.

Gammer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. reid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gammer throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Gammer had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. reid is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gammer Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take reid's back instead.

Gammer doesn't have the hooks in and reid manages to turn into his guard.
reid sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gammer's guard.
Gammer is staying active underneath reid, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

reid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gammer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gammer shoots for a takedown but reid saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
reid looks to land a combination. Gammer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
reid keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Gammer gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows reid to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gammer looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! reid has picked Gammer up and slammed him! Gammer can't keep hold of the triangle and reid manages to pass to side control!

A close round but Matt Gammer will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gammer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gammer showed some decent athleticism there.
reid is trying to stand up here but Gammer is controlling him well.

Gammer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. reid doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gammer.

Gammer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so reid is just riding it out for now. Gammer eventually gives up the hold.

Gammer takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
