PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gopnik Skwat (ranked 1764 p4p, 1852 weight class) and Michele Rene Gaspard (ranked 142 p4p, 149 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gopnik Skwat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michele Rene Gaspard!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skwat connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Gaspard thows a left - swing and a miss!
It looked like Skwat wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Skwat is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Skwat forces Gaspard back against the cage and clinches.
Gaspard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Skwat drags the fight down to the ground.
Gaspard postures up in Skwat's guard and throws a big left but Skwat blocks it.

Skwat escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gaspard gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gaspard stands and throws Skwat's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Skwat takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Skwat regains half guard there - taking advantage of Gaspard's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gopnik Skwat.
