The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Denver counters with a one-two to the body.
Masa Kones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Denver looks to throw the jab but Kones is out of range.

Denver darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Denver slows the pace down in half guard.
Kones is staying active underneath Denver, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Denver throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kones is defending against the submission attempts here by Denver.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Denver seems to be looking for submissions.
Denver is looking to take a break and control but Kones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Denver frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Denver is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kones shrugs it off.

Denver is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kones can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Denver is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kones is surviving well by controlling Denver's body position as best he can.
Kones is squirming around, avoiding Denver's attempts to control the action.
The referee warns Kones that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
