Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gerard Messing (ranked 2404 p4p, 2586 weight class) and Lamar Karter (ranked 259 p4p, 278 weight class). Gerard Messing has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Messing tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Karter was well out of range. Poor timing from Messing.
Karter's coach down at Casa Steel was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Karter's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Karter lands with a hook. Messing tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Messing looks to score with a jab to the body but Karter is just out of range.

Karter avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Messing backing away here, and Karter unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Karter throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Messing stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Karter.

Karter pivots, looking for a leg kick but Messing is out of range and Karter settles back down.
Messing has a takedown stuffed.
Karter connects with a right hand. Messing shakes it off.
Messing shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Karter counters with a nice uppercut.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerard Messing. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Messing throws a jab but it's blocked by Karter.
Messing misses with a looping right.
Karter follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

That was a close round but I would say that Gerard Messing will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Karter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Karter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Messing. That did some damage!

Karter drops Messing with a straight right hand, right on the button! Karter follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
