PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shahriyar Chai (ranked 219 p4p, 152 weight class) and Adrian Rose (ranked 31 p4p, 22 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Shahriyar Chai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adrian Rose!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chai keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rose.
Chai slips a straight right by Rose.
A little feinted left hand from Chai on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Chai will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Chai working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rose doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rose manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close second round but I would say that Shahriyar Chai will probably get the nod.

It looked like Chai was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rose.

Rose takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Rose is stalling here. Chai is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Rose seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Chai has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
