The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidovic lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Von Alkum has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Khalidovic lands with an overhand left.
Khalidovic takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

It looks like Mamed Khalidovic has been cut.

and Von Alkum counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Von Alkum takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Von Alkum blocks a head kick by Khalidovic.
Khalidovic cracks Von Alkum with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Khalidovic shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Von Alkum as he jumps to the side.

Von Alkum takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Khalidovic dives in and grabs Von Alkum's left leg, looking for a takedown. Von Alkum pushes down on Khalidovic's head and hops out.
Von Alkum looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Khalidovic has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Von Alkum uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Khalidovic.
Von Alkum throws out a counter right but Khalidovic avoids it with no problem.
Von Alkum lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Mamed Khalidovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Von Alkum throws a right hand that Khalidovic ducks under and follows up with a left that Khalidovic also avoids with ease.
Von Alkum tries a head kick but it misses.
Khalidovic connects with a solid leg kick.
Von Alkum connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Khalidovic momentarily.

Von Alkum takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Von Alkum lands a really nice looking cross but Khalidovic seems unphased.

Khalidovic fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Von Alkum has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Von Alkum uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Whack! Von Alkum lands a heavy head kick that drops Khalidovic. The ref tackles Von Alkum to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Khalidovic was done.
