Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jake Askren (ranked 2296 p4p, 1686 weight class) and Justin Case (ranked 174 p4p, 137 weight class). Justin Case has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 22 - 1, fighting out of London, Jake Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Case!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Askren misses with the combination.
Case let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Case ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Askren moves away.
Case throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Case looks to score with a jab to the body but Askren is just out of range.

Askren shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Case napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Askren trying to control the position but Case is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Askren tries to advance to mount but Case denies him.
Askren happy to just control the position for now.

Case is not content to let Askren control the position.

Askren swings around for an armbar but Case sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Askren's guard.
Case tries to stand but Askren is controlling from the bottom.

Case gets to his feet - Askren follows without any prompting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Askren fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Askren displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Case throws out the jab.
We've been told by Askren's head coaches at Shut Up & Train! that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Case throws a shot to the body.
Askren tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Case swivels and escapes.
Askren tries for a takedown but Case circles away easily
and Case counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Askren avoids the head kick by Case.
A slapping leg kick lands for Case.
Case lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Case.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Case keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Case works Askren's body with a nice hook.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Case, as that shot connected.
No luck for Askren with that takedown attempt.
Case missing with a left hand there. Askren was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Askren throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Case counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Askren swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Case counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Askren down! Case is looking to finish but Askren is intelligently defending himself.

Askren is rocked!
Askren is breathing heavily.
Case trying to stand up but can't free himself from Askren's guard.
Oh Askren is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Case working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Askren is trying to keep Case in close.
Askren seems to have got his legs back now.

Case wants to get up but he can't break Askren's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Case is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Case looks to land a combination. Askren sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Askren tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Case swivels and escapes.
Askren tries for a takedown but Case circles away easily
enabling Case to counter with a crisp jab.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Case dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Case slaps away a takedown attempt from Askren, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Askren rushes Case and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Case lands with a right to the head.
Askren is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Case is defending well.

Case breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Askren misses with an uppercut
enabling Case to counter with a crisp jab.
Nice takedown defense from Case. No joy for Askren on that attempt.

and Case counters with a right hand to the body.

Askren uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Case.

Case now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Justin Case is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Case stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Case wants it to stay on the feet.
Jake Askren is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Case dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Case throws a series of punches but Askren avoids them all with ease.

Case is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Askren presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Case scores with a nice hook to the head.
Case stalling in the clinch but Askren improves position.
Askren changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Case fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Askren shoots in for a takedown but Case shows good takedown defense.
Askren dives in and grabs Case's left leg, looking for a takedown. Case pushes down on Askren's head and hops out.
Jake Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Askren there as he acknowledges the shot.
Askren uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Case.
Askren shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Case counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Askren!
Case wants to stand up but Askren has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Case has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Case is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Askren manages to get to full guard.
Case wanted to stand there but Askren had control of the position.
Case must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Case is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Askren rather than just go for the knockout.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Askren is defended easily by Case.
Case with a hook.
Justin Case seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Askren throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Case's waist but Case gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Askren off to one side.
It seemed like Case was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Askren stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Case.
Askren misses with a double jab
enabling Case to counter with a crisp jab.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Case showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Case wants to stand and escape but instead Askren has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Askren shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Case but Case pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Askren uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Case.
Askren takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Case connects with a looping right hand.
No luck for Askren with that takedown attempt.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Case stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Case wants it to stay on the feet.

Case gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Askren won't allow Case to get back to his feet.
Askren wants to control from the top but Case keeps moving.

Case is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Case's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Askren takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Askren shoots in looking for a takedown. Case tries to sprawl out of it but Askren keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Case manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Case misses with a two punch combination.
Case with a jab.
Case lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Askren misses with a takedown attempt - Case sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Case counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Askren walks into a left hand.
Case throws out a powerful jab.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Askren tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Case paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Askren avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Jake Askren has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Justin Case is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Askren shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Case but Case pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Askren moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Case lands a really nice looking cross but Askren seems unphased.
Case moves forwards but Askren connects with a nice, crisp jab.

And that's the end of the fight!
Justin Case comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Case has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
