PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hornus Rays (ranked 4107 p4p, 25144 weight class) and Lin Xiao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lin Xiao told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lin Xiao!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rays with a hook.
Rays scores with a jab.
Rays lands a lovely overhand right.
Xiao takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rays cracks Xiao with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Xiao slips under a jab.
Rays clobbers Xiao with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Xiao clinches.

Xiao breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Xiao rushes Rays and presses him up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rays can't break the clinch.
Rays wants to get back to striking at distance but Xiao won't allow it.

Rays is trying to push Xiao away but Xiao has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Rays tries to break the clinch but Xiao is controlling the position.
Rays is trying to force a seperation but Xiao has the dominant position.

Xiao lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Rays backwards.
Rays tries to circle away but Xiao has him pinned against the cage.

Xiao tightens his grip and picks Rays up, before dumping him to the ground. Rays manages to land in guard.

Xiao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rays swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Xiao gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Xiao slips under a jab.

Xiao has managed to clinch.

Xiao jumps guard.
Xiao looking for a sweep. Not yet Xiao, not yet.

Xiao has his feet on Rays's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Rays with a jab.

Rays tries to sprawl but Xiao drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rays is breathing heavily.
Xiao throwing shots but Rays is blocking nicely.

Xiao decides to return to a standing position.
Rays pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Xiao is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Xiao scores with a leg kick.

Xiao has closed the distance and engaged Rays in a clinch.
Xiao landing some nice looking knees to the body.

Xiao escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Xiao shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rays manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rays is wriggling around but Xiao manages to pass to half guard.

Rays keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Xiao uses his free foot to push down on Rays's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rays.

Xiao with shots to the head and body - Rays looks very uncomfortable down there.

Rays takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Xiao's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
