The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tepes lV swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bates defending well as Tepes lV loads up on a big left hand.
Tepes lV takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Tepes lV throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bates sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bates looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Bates throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Tepes lV works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It seemed like Tepes lV was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bates lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Bates moves out of range as Tepes lV throws a body kick.
Bates cracks Tepes lV with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

That was a close round but I would say that Armad Bates will probably get the nod.

Tepes lV drops Bates with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bates looks back up at him and smiles so Tepes lV waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Bates moves into range and clinches up with Tepes lV.

Tepes lV's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Tepes lV walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Bates drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Tepes lV swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Bates's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
