PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Dinu (ranked 5628 p4p, 3428 weight class) and Mombasa Magabi (ranked 490 p4p, 349 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Roman Dinu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mombasa Magabi !
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dinu throws an off balance right hand
and Magabi counters with a good low kick that Dinu was not able to check.
Dinu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Magabi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Magabi ! But no joy.
A shot to the body from Dinu misses
and Magabi counters with a right hand to the body.
Magabi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Dinu is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Dinu misses with a jab to the body
and Magabi counters with a low kick, right behind Dinu 's knee.
Dinu tries to clinch up but Magabi circles away and keeps his distance.
Dinu lands a head shot.
Dinu misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Magabi counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Dinu is looking to clinch but Magabi is avoiding it.
Dinu throws a body punch but Magabi moves out of range.
Magabi flicks out a counter leg kick but Dinu steps away.
Dinu seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Dinu throws a right hand that Magabi ducks under and follows up with a left that Magabi also avoids with ease.
Magabi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Magabi thumps Dinu with a low kick.
Nice body kick from Magabi .
Dinu is breathing heavily.
Dinu swings widly with a right hand
and Magabi counters with a nice uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A thudding body kick lands there by Magabi !
Magabi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Magabi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Dinu at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dinu moves in looking to clinch but Magabi pushes him off.
Dinu misses with a body shot.
Dinu misses with a double jab
and Magabi counters with an inside leg kick.
Crunch! Magabi slams his shin into Dinu's torso.
Dinu on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
It looks like Roman Dinu has been cut.
Magabi drops Dinu with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Dinu looks back up at him and smiles so Magabi waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Magabi throws a shot to the body.
Magabi is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Magabi shuts the power down on Dinu. Lights out, game over! Magabi is your winner.
