Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stoner Steve (ranked 13 p4p, 46 weight class) and Joey Simone (ranked 4 p4p, 6 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Simone's choice of entrance music: Gucci Mane - Trap God Intro. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stoner Steve!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joey Simone!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Steve misses.
Simone cracks Steve with an open hand slap.
Simone tests Steve's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Simone keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

It looks like Joey Simone has been cut.
Steve looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Joey Simone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steve has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Steve there as he acknowledges the shot.

Simone fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Steve scores with the left hand. Simone knows he should have avoided that one.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Simone catches Steve with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Steve's jab looks to have found its range, popping Simone under the eye.

Steve has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Steve breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Simone misses with a hook. Steve ducked under it nicely.
Simone takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Simone counters with a series of strikes. Steve will be more careful next time no doubt.
The fighters circle momentarily. Simone darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Steve drops Simone with a beautiful combination! Simone stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Steve is looking for the KO!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Simone lands a slapping body shot.
Steve takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Simone cracks Steve with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Simone displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Steve throws out the jab.

Simone has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Simone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Steve takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Simone lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Simone is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Steve had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

A looping hook to the body misses from Steve. Simone does a little dance to reset his feet.
Simone fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Steve, pushing him back against the cage.

A right handed body shot lands from Simone.
Steve blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Steve lands a nice shot to the body.
Simone tries to pull guard but Steve won't allow it.
Steve tries to work over Simone's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Simone has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Steve uses from the top position.
Simone pulls Steve in close to prevent any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Steve wants to control from the top but Simone keeps moving.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Steve's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Simone lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Simone. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Steve moves forwards but Simone connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Steve misses with a looping right.
Simone ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Steve has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Simone finds it's way round the side to connect with Steve's head.
Simone gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Simone has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Simone blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Steve misses with some punches.
Steve looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Simone misses with a punch to the body.
Steve pushes Simone back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Simone is trying to pull guard but Steve turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Stoner Steve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey Simone.

Simone tries to clinch up but Steve circles away and keeps his distance.
Steve misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Steve throws a lazy uppercut
and Simone connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Simone rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Steve counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Steve looks to throw the jab but Simone is out of range.
The crowd cheers as Simone lands an impressive looking overhand right. Steve doesn't seem phased though.
Simone takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Steve slips under a jab.
Simone lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Steve punishes Simone's body with a nice straight punch.
Simone rushes Steve and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Simone lands a body punch in the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Simone manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
