Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aleks Nik (ranked 55 p4p, 161 weight class) and Gregor Marek (ranked 10 p4p, 21 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Gregor Marek was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nik with a body punch. A glancing blow.

and Nik counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Marek misses the jab.
Nik bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nik drops down looking for a counter takedown but Marek sprawls and moves away.
Gregor Marek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marek throws a head kick that misses.
Marek misses with a few strikes there.
Nik half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Marek gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Marek will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nik stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Marek.
Marek stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Nik tries to move into range but Marek moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nik in particular looking to stall.
Nik wants to advance to full mount but Marek doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Nik looking to sit in guard and control but Marek gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Nik lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

I would just about give that final round to Gregor Marek.
