The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLaughlin misses with a looping right.
McLaughlin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Calhoun bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Calhoun is looking to clinch but McLaughlin is avoiding it.
McLaughlin misses with a body punch

and Calhoun counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Calhoun.
McLaughlin is working Calhoun over against the ropes.
McLaughlin lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

It looks like Makai Calhoun has been cut.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Calhoun has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
McLaughlin blocks an elbow strike from Calhoun.
McLaughlin lands with a light punch inside.
Calhoun jumps guard but McLaughlin stands there with Calhoun around his waist. Calhoun gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

McLaughlin breaks from the clinch.
Calhoun tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Calhoun throws a solid leg kick but McLaughlin takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Calhoun.
McLaughlin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

McLaughlin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Calhoun manages to avoid it.

McLaughlin batters Calhoun with a massive right followed by a huge left! Calhoun is out on his feet looking like a zombie as McLaughlin lands a final crushing right hand to drop Calhoun to the mat with a gruesome thud! McLaughlin is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
