PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Conald Derrone (ranked 4051 p4p, 3991 weight class) and Saint Arai (ranked 0 p4p, 255 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conald Derrone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Saint Arai!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arai uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Derrone fails with a takedown attempt.
Arai moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Arai throws a body punch but Derrone moves out of range.

Derrone moves into the clinch.
Derrone really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Derrone successfully pulls guard.
Derrone controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Derrone wriggles free and stands up.

Derrone closes the distance and clinches.
Derrone is looking to take this one to the mat.
Derrone missing with knees to the body.

Arai is trying to force a seperation but Derrone has the dominant position.
Derrone is working for takedown but Arai is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Conald Derrone. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Derrone manages to pull guard.
Arai keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Derrone's head.

Derrone is looking for a triangle but Arai pushes his legs off easily.
Arai trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Derrone had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Arai defends it easily.
Derrone wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Derrone has his feet on Arai's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Arai displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Derrone.
Arai pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Derrone back to the cage. Arai follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

The fighters circle momentarily. Arai darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Derrone takes one on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Arai misses with a jab, cross combination.
Derrone walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Derrone gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Arai is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Arai looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Derrone wants to take the fight to the mat but Arai manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Derrone fails to pull guard.
Derrone is breathing heavily.

Derrone has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Arai after a bit of a struggle.
Derrone throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Arai blocks it with crossed arms.
Derrone has Arai pressed against the cage, preventing Arai from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Derrone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Arai walks away with a smile on his face. Derrone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Derrone takes one to the chin there.
Arai scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Arai scores with a hook to the body. Derrone takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Arai scores with a nice right hand.

Derrone is rocked!
Arai cracks Derrone with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Derrone tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Arai pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Derrone is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Saint Arai!
