PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Bundy (ranked 429 p4p, 496 weight class) and Ghengis Khan (ranked 28 p4p, 37 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Bundy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Ghengis Khan!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan slips under a jab.
Khan throws a hook to the side of Bundy's head but Bundy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Khan scores with a nice right hand.

It looks like Ted Bundy has been cut.
Bundy tries to move into range but Khan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Bundy shoots in but Khan avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Khan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
No luck for Bundy with that takedown attempt.
Khan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Bundy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khan's guard.

Khan has Bundy pulled in close to control his posture.
Bundy wants to pass the guard but Khan is keeping the position.

Bundy has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Khan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Khan there as he acknowledges the shot.

It looks like Ghengis Khan has been cut.
Khan lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Bundy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Khan on his heels. He'll look to pass Khan's guard now, I'm sure.
Bundy wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.
Khan seems keen to control Bundy's posture.

Bundy looking to sit in guard and control but Khan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Bundy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Khan is aware though and is defending well.
Khan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bundy has an active guard here but Khan has managed to pass into half guard.

Bundy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Khan is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bundy is looking to control Khan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bundy avoid being mounted?
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bundy is staying active underneath Khan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Khan listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Bundy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Khan.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ghengis Khan will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Khan throws the left hand but Bundy avoids the punch easily.
Bundy lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Bundy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Khan doesn't seem bothered though.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Khan walks into a stiff left hand from Bundy.
Bundy uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Khan.
Khan connects with a body shot that sends Bundy's belly button to the back.
Ghengis Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Khan throws a body shot but no joy.
Khan connects with a nice looking jab.
A big right from Khan misses.
Khan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Khan misses with an uppercut. Bundy saw that one coming.
Bundy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Khan tries to avoid it but Bundy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Khan to the ground. Khan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bundy.
Khan stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Bundy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Khan looks to throw the jab but Bundy is out of range.
Bundy tries to counter with a takedown but Khan is quick to defend against it.
Bundy is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Bundy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Khan did well to prevent Bundy getting side control.

Bundy tries to advance to mount but Khan denies him.
Bundy wants to control but Khan is keeping him busy.
Bundy misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Khan wants to control but Bundy postures up.
Khan tries to improve position but can't.
Bundy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
I wouldn't like to be where Khan is right now.
Bundy throwing strikes but Khan manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bundy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bundy takes a swing at Khan's ribcage but misses.
Ghengis Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bundy moves forwards but Khan connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Khan lands a lovely overhand right.
Bundy ducks under a wild hook from Khan.

Bundy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bundy uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Khan.
Bundy shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense.
Bundy misses with an uppercut.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Khan! But no joy.

Bundy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bundy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Khan is trying to improve his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bundy goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Khan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Bundy but great work by Khan.
Ghengis Khan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bundy is looking for a sweep.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ted Bundy.
I think Khan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
