The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldini lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Scramstad at a distance.
Maldini circles away from the clinch attempt.
Scramstad tries to close the distance and clinch but Maldini swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Scramstad takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Maldini swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Scramstad.
Scramstad shoots in looking for a takedown. Maldini tries to sprawl out of it but Scramstad keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maldini manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Scramstad is defended easily by Maldini.
It seemed like Maldini was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Troy Scramstad. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scramstad swings for the body but Maldini moves out of range.
Maldini scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Scramstad takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Scramstad tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Maldini manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Maldini lands a left and a right that send Scramstad crashing to the mat, dazed. Maldini thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Paolo Maldini is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Maldini grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Scramstad takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Maldini cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!
