Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Lake (ranked 3460 p4p, 3074 weight class) and Katt Strypare (ranked 238 p4p, 213 weight class). Jack Lake is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Lake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Katt Strypare!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Lake throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Strypare instigates a clinch.

Strypare has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Lake uses from the top position.
Strypare keeping moving, preventing Lake from controlling successfully.
Strypare controls Lake momentarily but Lake frees himself.
Strypare wants to sweep but no luck.
Lake trying to control but Strypare is working from the bottom.
Lake is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Strypare looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lake wants to control from the top but Strypare keeps moving.
Lake slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lake is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Dillo's Deadly Dojo that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Strypare controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Strypare bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lake's guard.


Lake is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Strypare stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lake swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Strypare tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Strypare thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Strypare wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lake, who protects the arm well.

Lake is not content to let Strypare control the position.

Strypare is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lake has escaped the position, nice work there.

Strypare is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lake is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lake is looking to regain half guard here but Strypare keeps moving and retains side control.
Lake wants to control but Strypare postures up.

Lake is trying to improve his position.
Lake can't do much from the bottom here.
Lake is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Lake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Strypare advances to mount.
Strypare takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
I really don't envy Lake right now.
Strypare not allowing Lake to control his hands.
Lake is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Well, with Strypare on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Lake is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Strypare looking to break Lake's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Lake remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Strypare will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Lake just trying to survive but Strypare is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Strypare trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lake trying to control the action but Strypare just sinks the hooks in.
Lake tries to roll but Strypare sticks to his back.

Our spies down at at BKC Gym inform us that Strypare has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Lake looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Lake is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Strypare is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Strypare tries to get the hooks in deep but Lake pushed the leg off.

Strypare looking for the choke but no joy.
You can see the frustration on Lake's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lake tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Strypare looking to take Lake's back but Lake rolls and after a scramble, Lake ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Lake to escape a tricky position.

Strypare looking for a guillotine here but Lake defends easily.

Lake is working for a submission of some sort.

Strypare is pressing down on Lake's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Lake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Strypare is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lake, into his guard.

Strypare wants to pass the guard but Lake is keeping the position.

Lake looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Strypare works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Strypare is looking for a kimura but Lake is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Strypare to get the leverage.
Strypare passes the guard and advances to mount!
Lake is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Lake is squirming around, avoiding Strypare's attempts to control the action.
Strypare cracks Lake with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Lake can't escape the position.
Strypare takes Lake's back.

Strypare is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lake is defending well though. Strypare let's go of the attempt for now.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Strypare. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
