Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between TAKAMORI GOMA (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Stamkos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Steven Stamkos!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stamkos throws a series of strikes that have GOMA backpedaling.
GOMA throws a head kick but Stamkos moves out of range.
GOMA looks for a takedown but Stamkos sprawls well.
Stamkos misses with a takedown
and GOMA counters with a two punch combo.
Stamkos shoots for a takedown but GOMA saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Stamkos shoots in but GOMA avoids the takedown attempt easily.
TAKAMORI GOMA has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Stamkos.
GOMA lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

GOMA won't allow Stamkos to get back to his feet.
GOMA wanted to stand there but Stamkos had control of the position.

and Stamkos counters with a series of strikes. GOMA will be more careful next time no doubt.
A nice leg kick lands there from GOMA.
GOMA takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Stamkos lands a nice looking kick to the body. GOMA takes a step back to recover.
Stamkos wants to clinch but GOMA slips to the side
and GOMA counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and GOMA counters with a lovely straight right hand!
GOMA works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Steven Stamkos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

GOMA drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stamkos seems a little lost for a moment, as GOMA dominates the positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that TAKAMORI GOMA will probably get the nod.

GOMA decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
GOMA perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Stamkos tries to get to full guard but GOMA has control of the leg.

Stamkos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

GOMA decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Stamkos, up you get!

GOMA throws a nice looking combination but Stamkos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

GOMA tries to land a knee to the head but Stamkos blocks with his arms.
Stamkos misses with a body punch.
Stamkos is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.

GOMA throws a punch but it's blocked by Stamkos.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stamkos tries to pull guard but GOMA holds him up against the ropes and eventually Stamkos drops back down to his feet.

GOMA scores with a shot to the side of Stamkos's head.
Stamkos tries to score a body lock takedown but GOMA shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

GOMA dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stamkos. That did some damage!

GOMA throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Stamkos's head.
GOMA tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and GOMA counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

GOMA shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stamkos as he jumps to the side.

and GOMA counters with a three punch combo that has Stamkos backing up. Stamkos nods at GOMA to acknowledge the strikes.
Stamkos walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Stamkos avoids the head kick by GOMA.
Stamkos pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
GOMA lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Stamkos takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
GOMA fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
TAKAMORI GOMA is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
GOMA rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stamkos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stamkos has his takedown stuffed

and GOMA counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stamkos's guard now.
Steven Stamkos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
This has been an exciting period of action!
