Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stu Redman (ranked 3677 p4p, 2043 weight class) and Chrysanthos Xanthopoulos (ranked 411 p4p, 255 weight class). Redman comes to the cage accompanied by Smke a Little Smoke - Eric Church. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stu Redman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chrysanthos Xanthopoulos!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redman misses with a jab, cross combination.
Xanthopoulos scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Redman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Xanthopoulos gets full guard.
Redman throws a strike but Xanthopoulos rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Xanthopoulos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Redman is keeping the position for now.
Xanthopoulos not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Redman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

I've been told that Xanthopoulos has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

Redman looks to throw the jab but Xanthopoulos is out of range.
A nice side step and Xanthopoulos releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Stu Redman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Redman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Xanthopoulos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Redman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Redman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Xanthopoulos's head.

The referee asks Xanthopoulos politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Xanthopoulos prefers to stall for the moment though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Redman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Redman looks to land a left hand but Xanthopoulos moved out of range nicely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Xanthopoulos enables Redman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Xanthopoulos manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Redman looking to sit in guard and control but Xanthopoulos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Xanthopoulos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stu Redman.
Well Redman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
