The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawrence throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gerber is trying to counter with his kicks.
Gerber misses the jab.
Lawrence wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Gerber walks into a straight right hand from Lawrence.

Lawrence fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lawrence shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Malachi Lawrence has been cut.
Lawrence shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gerber pinned against the cage. Gerber gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing reports that Lawrence has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Lawrence looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gerber with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Lawrence throws a strike but Gerber manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Lawrence tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
