The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gotch digs a good hook to Alopodis's body.

Lou Gotch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gotch controlling the position.
Alopodis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gotch swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Gotch lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Alopodis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gotch doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gotch manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gotch looking to sit in guard and control but Alopodis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gotch has his foot on Alopodis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alopodis works his way back into a safe position though.

Alopodis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

My spies in Freddy\'s Grappling Institute inform me that Gotch has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Gotch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alopodis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alopodis forces his way into half guard.
Alopodis is looking to advance position but Gotch won't allow it.
Gotch is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alopodis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alopodis's back!
Alopodis can't escape the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gotch tries to keep control of the position but Alopodis is staying busy.

I would just about give that final round to Lou Gotch.
I think Gotch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
