PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xxx Xxx (ranked 23273 p4p, 5880 weight class) and Xxx Xxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 100 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 93 - 24 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
No luck for Fighter A with that takedown attempt.
Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well.
Fighter A fails with the takedown.
Fighter B counters with a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fighter B wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fighter B closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fighter A's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A looking to control.
Fighter B won't allow Fighter A to sweep him here.
Fighter A trying to control the position here.
Fighter A working a defensive guard but Fighter B manages to pass into side control anyway.
You can see the frustration on Fighter A's face as Fighter B controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fighter B controls the position.
Fighter B working away.
Fighter A is trying to escape the position but Fighter B is controlling the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Fighter A slaps away a takedown attempt from Fighter B, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fighter A thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B has a takedown stuffed.
Fighter A is trying hard to land a takedown here. Fighter B sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And Fighter B responds with a good body kick, but Fighter A manages to step out the way in time.
Fighter A looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fighter A shoots for a double leg takedown but Fighter B sprawls well. He's pushed Fighter A's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fighter A shoots in looking for a takedown but Fighter B manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Fighter A's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Fighter A feints and as Fighter B raises his hands in defense, Fighter A changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Fighter B counters with a good, hard body kick but Fighter A shrugs it off.
Fighter B will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fighter A attempts a counter takedown but Fighter B avoids it well and moves away.
Fighter B shoots in for a takedown but Fighter A shows good takedown defense.

and Fighter B counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Fighter A is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Fighter A is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Fighter A seems keen to control Fighter B's posture.
Fighter B slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Fighter A working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fighter B.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fighter A tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Fighter A is trying to control the position but Fighter B postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fighter A looks for a takedown but Fighter B sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Fighter A gets caught flat footed, as Fighter B shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A controls Fighter B momentarily but Fighter B frees himself.

Fighter A has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fighter B can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fighter A seems keen to control Fighter B's posture.
Fighter B has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fighter A is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fighter A keeping full guard, as Fighter B tries to pass.
Fighter B's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter A working a defensive guard but Fighter B passes into half guard.
Fighter B performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fighter B shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fighter B showed some decent athleticism there.
Fighter A gets full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A trying to keep a closed guard but Fighter B is proving a slippery customer.
Fighter B is stalling in the full guard.
Fighter A throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fighter A working a defensive guard but Fighter B passes into half guard.
Fighter A controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Fighter A is trying to maintain the position but Fighter B is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Fighter B moves out of range of the body kick from Fighter A.
Fighter B counters with a body kick.

Fighter B closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fighter B lands in his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Fighter A is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fighter B sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fighter B's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Xxx Xxx has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Xxx Xxx is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Fighter B is continuing to stall.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Xxx Xxx comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fighter B has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
