The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Schneider got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alieva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schneider has managed to get both his arms back between Alieva's legs - danger averted.

Alieva has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Schneider is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Alieva.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schneider seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Alieva does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Schneider looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alieva with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Schneider is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Alieva is in big trouble! Schneider is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Alieva. Poor guy.
