The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgregor moves in looking to clinch but Dantes pushes him off.
Mcgregor darts in trying to clinch
enabling Dantes to counter with a crisp jab.
Mcgregor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mcgregor shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dantes defends it nicely.
Dantes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dantes avoids a kick to the body.
Mcgregor works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

It looks like Edmond Dantes has been cut.

Mcgregor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dantes sprawls well. Dantes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mcgregor gets slowly back to his feet.

and Mcgregor counters with a three punch combo that has Dantes backing up. Dantes nods at Mcgregor to acknowledge the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mcgregor tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dantes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Connor Mcgregor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dantes lands a glancing blow to the side of Mcgregor's head.
Dantes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mcgregor misses with a head kick.
It looked like Dantes was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mcgregor.
Mcgregor defending well as Dantes loads up on a big left hand.
Mcgregor is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Mcgregor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mcgregor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dantes's waist but Dantes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcgregor off to one side.
Dantes appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Mcgregor tries to clinch there but Dantes circles away.
Dantes throws a shot from downtown. Mcgregor moves away and avoids it.

and Mcgregor takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Mcgregor walks straight into a right hand from Dantes - that's dropped him! Dantes jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Mcgregor from any more punishment! Mcgregor complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Edmond Dantes!
An out of breath Edmond Dantes thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
