PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kid might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Go Go Power Rangers. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Kid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Hardy!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Glass and William Gold.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hardy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Kid has Hardy up against the cage in a clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Hardy.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Hardy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Hardy tries to land a knee to the head but Kid blocks with his arms.
Kid stalling.
Hardy throws a head punch that misses.
Hardy is working for takedown but Kid is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hardy jumps guard and drags Kid to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Kid is looking to stand up but Hardy won't let him.
Kid wants to control from the top but Hardy keeps moving.
Kid wants to stand but Hardy has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hardy throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hardy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hardy wants to stand and escape but Kid is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kid tries for a takedown but Hardy sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kid is looking to clinch.
Kid tries to close the distance and clinch but Hardy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kid is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kid closes the distance and clinches up with Hardy, looking for a takedown. Kid pushes Hardy against the cage but Hardy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hardy gets a clinch.
Kid lands an elbow just above Hardy 's eye.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hardy jumps into guard, dragging Kid to the mat.
Hardy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kid is controlling him.

Hardy is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Hardy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kid is one step ahead there.

Hardy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kid wants to pass the guard but Hardy is keeping the position.
Hardy bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kid's guard.

Hardy might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kid kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hardy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hardy wants to pass the guard but Kid is keeping the position.
Hardy trying to control the position from guard on top but Kid is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hardy fails to land the takedown.
Hardy looks gassed!
Kid closes the distance but Hardy moves to the side

and Hardy counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nate Hardy dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Hardy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kid, pushing him back against the cage.
Kid stalling.

Hardy works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Kid has his foot on Hardy's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hardy works his way back into a safe position though.

Kid looking for subs off his back but Hardy has passed one foot through into half guard.

Hardy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kid wants to improve his position but Hardy is controlling well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kid is working hard here to advance position.

Kid keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Hardy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kid with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kid tries to roll over but Hardy keeps him under control.
Kid has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hardy is working away from the top position though.

Kid is looking for a sweep. Hardy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hardy is taking a breather. Kid says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kid is in trouble now - Hardy has advanced to mount!
Hardy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kid is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hardy landing strikes, looking to finish!
Hardy wants to control the pace but Kid is squirming around nicely.
Kid tries to lock up and control but Hardy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hardy working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Kid has given up his back here.
Kid covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Hardy controlling the position well here. Kid rolled but Hardy kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Hardy tries to get the hooks in deep but Kid pushed the leg off.

Hardy looking to break Kid's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kid remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hardy will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Kid tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Kid is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Kid is trying to reverse the position but instead Hardy has taken his back - oops!

Kid looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Nate Hardy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!

Hardy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hardy prevents Kid from getting the reversal.
Hardy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Hardy goes for an armbar but Kid turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kid.

Hardy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kid drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hardy dives on top into guard.

Hardy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Nate Hardy has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hardy wants to pass the guard but Kid is keeping the position.

Kid looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hardy passes into side control.
Kid tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hardy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hardy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kid is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Kid wants to control but Hardy postures up.
Hardy trying to control the position but Kid is working away.

Hardy gets to his feet. Kid looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hardy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kid working for a triangle but Hardy defends it easily.
Hardy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kid swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nate Hardy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hardy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
