PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between The Royal Savage (ranked 2075 p4p, 588 weight class) and Jacques Turcotte (ranked 245 p4p, 78 weight class). Jacques Turcotte told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, The Royal Savage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacques Turcotte!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turcotte fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

and Turcotte counters with a three punch combo that has Savage backing up. Savage nods at Turcotte to acknowledge the strikes.

Savage throws an overhand right that lands on Turcotte's shoulder, as Turcotte tries to avoid the shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Turcotte! But no joy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd cheers as Turcotte lands an impressive looking overhand right. Savage doesn't seem phased though.
Savage takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Turcotte throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Savage on the side of the head.

Savage with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Turcotte to score with a decent uppercut.
Turcotte wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

The Royal Savage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Turcotte cracks Savage with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Turcotte is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Savage.
Savage throws a shot from downtown. Turcotte moves away and avoids it.

Turcotte is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Savage had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Turcotte throws out a counter right but Savage avoids it with no problem.
Turcotte has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

A looping hook to the body misses from Turcotte. Savage does a little dance to reset his feet.

Sloppy strikes from Savage. Those never looked like landing.
Turcotte tries to bum rush Savage with a series of wild strikes but Savage uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
