PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barron White (ranked 650 p4p, 1513 weight class) and Matvey Buryckin (ranked 71 p4p, 166 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Matvey Buryckin was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Barron White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Matvey Buryckin!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Darius Henderson and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buryckin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but White circles away quickly and effectively.
White fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Buryckin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Buryckin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts White as he jumps to the side.
Buryckin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but White moves away.
White takes one on the button.
White with a nice calf kick.
Buryckin ducks right into an uppercut from White.

It looks like Matvey Buryckin has been cut.
White takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

White feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Buryckin sprawling to the canvas! Buryckin rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can White finish him?!

Buryckin is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
White fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Buryckin is still on wobbly legs! Can White finish him?
White scores with a jab to the body.
White thows a leg kick but Buryckin checks it

and Buryckin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Buryckin.

White uses the cage to get back to his feet.
White just misses with a punch to the body.
Buryckin seems to have recovered his senses.
White bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Buryckin checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
White scores with a leg kick.
White swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buryckin displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as White throws out the jab.
White slips a jab and a cross from Buryckin.
Buryckin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping White at a distance.
White tries to score with a low kick but Buryckin moves his leg out of the way.
Buryckin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
White throws a combination that misses

and Buryckin counters with a takedown into side control.

Buryckin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
White is not content to let Buryckin control the position.
Buryckin is trying to move to mount but White reverses beautifully and ends up in Buryckin's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Buryckin looking to control but White passes into half guard.

Buryckin looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Buryckin tries to get to full guard but White has control of the leg.
White not doing much here.
Buryckin moves into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Buryckin working for submissions but it's allowed White to get to half guard.

Buryckin wants to control but White passes into side.
Buryckin is trying to control White's posture but White avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Buryckin is looking to reverse the position.
White takes a little break here. Buryckin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
White will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Buryckin has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Buryckin tries to control but White manages to take his back.
Buryckin is in bad spot here.
White trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Buryckin doesn't escape.
White has the hooks in. Buryckin is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Buryckin throws a series of punches but White avoids them all with ease.
White scores with a sloppy right hand. Buryckin should have avoided that one.
White displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Buryckin.
White throws a jab when Buryckin was well out of range.
White lands an overhand right.
The fighters circling - Buryckin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nice takedown defense from White. No joy for Buryckin on that attempt.
A big right from Buryckin misses.
White is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Buryckin can do to turn this around?
Buryckin walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! White swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Barron White!
