PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Kim (ranked 3506 p4p, 4380 weight class) and Jesus Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jesus Walter!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Walter defends well and Kim ends up having to push Walter into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Kim tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kim jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Walter walks away with a smile on his face. Kim gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Walter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kim looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Walter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Kim avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Walter.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walter swings for the body but Kim moves out of range.

Walter closes the distance and clinches.

Walter wants the takedown. Kim is fighting it off but Walter persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kim's guard against the cage.

Walter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walter lands a couple of elbows.

Walter wants to stand but Kim has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kim is trying to control the position but Walter postures up.

Walter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Walter tries to free his leg and advance position but Kim is retaining full guard.

Kim pushes Walter off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Walter counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kim manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Kim could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kim tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Walter gets control of Kim's arms and successfully pulls guard. Walter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Walter manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Kim gets caught napping as Walter dives in and scores a takedown. Kim manages to retain guard.
Walter wants to stand and escape but instead Kim has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Walter wriggles free and stands up.
Kim fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Walter dives in and scores a takedown into Kim's guard.

Kim has his feet on Walter's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kim is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Walter sees it coming and defends easily.
Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walter keeps working.
Walter is positioning himself well to prevent Kim advancing to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Kim on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Walter. Walter obviously looking to wear him down.
Walter shoots in for a takedown but Kim shows good takedown defense.
As Walter looks to move away, Kim throws a big counter combo but Walter just gets out of the way.

Walter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kim explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Walter has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kim takes an elbow to the temple.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kim is trying to pull guard but Walter has him pressed against the cage.

Walter ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Walter no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Walter pulls Kim in to control the position.
Walter is trying to hold Kim in close to prevent damage but Kim has managed to pass into half guard.
Walter tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Kim manages to move to mount!
Walter wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walter tries to lock up and control but Kim gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Walter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Walter wants it to stay on the feet.
Kim drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Kim changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Walter tries to avoid it but Kim manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Walter to the ground. Walter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Walter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kim to the mat! Kim manages to get full guard.

Kim is staying active underneath Walter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Walter has clasped his hands together around Kim's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Walter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kim. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well Walter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
