Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eduardo Owens (ranked 4066 p4p, 4052 weight class) and Jayson Winters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eduardo Owens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jayson Winters!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owens thows a left - swing and a miss!
Winters slaps away a takedown attempt from Owens, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Winters rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Owens moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Winters fails with the takedown
and Owens counters with a one-two to the body.
Winters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Winters looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Owens is fending him off so far but Winters persists. Nope, Owens circles away and we're back to standing.
Owens throws a head kick but Winters moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Winters is defended easily by Owens.
Eduardo Owens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jayson Winters.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Winters makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Owens controls Winters momentarily but Winters frees himself.
Winters trying to control but Owens is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Owens throws a low kick, looking for Winters's leg but Winters calmly moves out of range.
Winters doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Owens makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Owens throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Owens is defended easily by Winters.

Winters moves into the clinch successfully.
Owens wants a takedown but no success here.
Winters tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Owens just stands there and leans against the cage.

Winters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
No luck for Owens with that takedown attempt.
Winters is looking for the big counter here.

Winters throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Owens's waist but Owens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Winters off to one side.

Winters moves into the clinch.
Winters is trying to drag Owens to the mat but Owens just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Owens is working for takedown but Winters is calmly controlling the position for now.

Winters pulls guard effortlessly.
Owens sitting in guard here, content to control.
Owens advances to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Winters is not content to let Owens control the position.
Winters moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jayson Winters will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Owens moves into range and clinches up with Winters.
Owens is trying to break the clinch but Winters is controlling him.
Winters is trying to force a seperation but Owens has the dominant position.

Winters ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Winters no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Winters is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Owens defends well.
Winters lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Owens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Winters can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Winters is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Owens wants to stand but Winters is controlling the position.
Owens throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Winters stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Owens shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Owens throws a head kick but Winters moves out of range.

Owens tries to close the distance and clinch but Winters swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Winters steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Owens.
Winters displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Owens.
Winters circles away from the clinch attempt.
Winters throws a low kick, looking for Owens's leg but Owens calmly moves out of range.
Winters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Winters is breathing heavily.
Winters darts in looking for a takedown but Owens gets double underhooks and turns Winters into the cage.
Winters has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Owens throws a right and a left that Winters avoids nicely.

Jayson Winters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Winters really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Owens. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Owens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winters swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Winters is looking to sweep but instead, Owens has passed into half guard.

Winters has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Owens is working away from the top position though.
Owens prevents Winters from standing back up.
Winters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Owens escapes and gets back to his feet.

Winters fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Owens, pushing him back against the cage.
Owens can't get the takedown.
Owens prevents a body shot from Winters.

Owens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Winters as he jumps to the side.
Winters lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Owens dives in and grabs Winters's left leg, looking for a takedown. Winters pushes down on Owens's head and hops out.
Winters throws a big counter head kick but Owens avoids it with no problem.

Owens shoots in for a takedown but Winters shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Winters works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Winters keeps control of Owens as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Winters blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
