PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexus Argento (ranked 1715 p4p, 2030 weight class) and Daniel Steel (ranked 188 p4p, 221 weight class). Argento comes to the cage accompanied by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexus Argento!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Steel!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel misses with a straight right.
Argento went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Good shot there by Steel.
Steel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Argento clinches up with Steel and pushes him back against the cage.
Steel lands with a left to the head.
Steel is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Still in the clinch, Argento scores with a nice short uppercut.

It looks like Daniel Steel has been cut.

and Argento counters with a body kick.
Argento looks to score with a jab to the body but Steel is just out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Argento was well out of range. Poor timing from Steel.
Steel throws an overhand right that lands on Argento's shoulder, as Argento tries to avoid the shot.
Steel takes a swing at Argento's ribcage but misses.
Daniel Steel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Argento fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steel manages to avoid it.

Steel gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Argento has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Steel is trying to keep an underhook but Argento manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Argento seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Steel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Argento throws a strike but Steel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Argento has his foot on Steel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Steel works his way back into a safe position though.
Steel advances to half guard.

Steel seems to be looking for submissions.
Argento is refusing to be controlled, as Steel sits in half guard.

Steel might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Argento haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Steel is working for a submission of some sort.
Argento gets full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Argento is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexus Argento will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Daniel Steel's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Steel's jab looks to have found its range, popping Argento under the eye.

It looks like Alexus Argento has been cut.
Steel is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Argento slips a straight right by Steel.
Steel tries to clinch but Argento moves out of range.
Steel tries to close the distance and clinch but Argento swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Argento appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Argento scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Argento counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Steel thinking.
Steel throws a right and a left that both miss.
Argento was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Argento throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Steel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Steel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Argento walks into a left hand.
Argento turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Argento throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Argento tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Steel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Steel doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Steel swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Argento counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Argento.
Argento connects with a couple of short punches.

Steel looking for subs off his back but Argento has passed one foot through into half guard.
Steel is looking to control Argento's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Steel avoid being mounted?

Argento thows a huge punch but Steel dodges it nicely.
Nice strikes from Argento there.
Steel wants to improve his position but Argento is controlling well.
Steel won't allow Argento to pass to mount.
Alexus Argento overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Argento performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Argento is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Steel can do to turn this around?

Argento looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Argento trying to control from Steel's half guard. Steel has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Argento got a little sloppy there for a moment and Steel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Argento has managed to get both his arms back between Steel's legs - danger averted.
Steel preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Argento is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Steel looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Argento has picked Steel up and slammed him! Steel can't keep hold of the triangle and Argento manages to pass to side control!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Argento stuns Steel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Steel has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Argento moves into range and connects with a jab.

and Argento makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Argento counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Steel throws a series of punches but Argento avoids them all with ease.

Argento looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Argento throws a body shot but no joy.
A looping hook to the body misses from Steel. Argento does a little dance to reset his feet.
It appears Argento was looking to counter with a kick there.

and Steel makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Argento fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steel manages to avoid it.
Argento throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Argento lands a left and a right that send Steel crashing to the mat, dazed. Argento thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Steel is rocked!
Steel misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Argento counters with a nice low kick that buckles Steel's knee momentarily.
Steel is still on wobbly legs! Can Argento finish him?
Steel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Steel throws a right hand that misses
and Argento counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Steel out cold! What a finish! Argento is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alexus Argento!
A victorious Alexus Argento thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter.
