The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez misses with a lunging right hand
and Rurik counters with a good low kick that Hernandez was not able to check.
Hernandez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Rurik tries to clinch but Hernandez moves away
and Hernandez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rurik misses with a leg kick
and Hernandez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rurik is rocked!
Hernandez has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Hare of the Dog Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Yaroslav Rurik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hernandez lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Rurik is still on wobbly legs! Can Hernandez finish him?

Rurik drives through and clinches with Hernandez against the cage.
Rurik tries to throw a body punch but Hernandez avoids it by throwing Rurik back against the cage.
Hernandez lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Hernandez turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hernandez manages to end up in side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hernandez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Hernandez tries to score with some ground and pound. Rurik controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Rurik seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rurik is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hernandez connects with a decent elbow.

Hernandez is trying to get an arm triangle but Rurik is defending well.
Hernandez scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Rurik is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hernandez can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
