Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Rhodes (ranked 3385 p4p, 3067 weight class) and Ahmad Syaiful (ranked 403 p4p, 362 weight class). Ryan Rhodes could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ahmad Syaiful's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ryan Rhodes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ahmad Syaiful!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhodes fails to land with a series of punches.
Rhodes gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Syaiful's coach down at Champion Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Syaiful's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Syaiful rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rhodes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rhodes avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Rhodes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Rhodes looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Syaiful scores with a hook.
Rhodes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Syaiful throws out the jab.
Rhodes throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Syaiful dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Rhodes throws a right and a left that Syaiful avoids nicely.
Syaiful looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

enabling Rhodes to counter with a crisp jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rhodes takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Syaiful swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rhodes.

Syaiful lands with a good body shot.
Rhodes staying out of range there.
Rhodes takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rhodes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Syaiful lands a glancing blow to the side of Rhodes's head.
Syaiful lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Syaiful scores with a crisp jab that stopped Rhodes in his tracks.
Syaiful is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Rhodes had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Syaiful connects with a nice looking jab.
Rhodes is rocked!
Syaiful cracks Rhodes with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Rhodes falls to his knees and Syaiful doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ahmad Syaiful!
