Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tevin Shay (ranked 3041 p4p, 23341 weight class) and Carlos Mendoza (ranked 338 p4p, 520 weight class). Carlos Mendoza has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tevin Shay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Carlos Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shay listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Shay throws a hook to the side of Mendoza's head but Mendoza sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mendoza tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shay swings widly with a right hand
and Mendoza connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mendoza throws a looping overhand right but Shay ducks down to avoid it.
Shay tries to counter with a takedown but Mendoza is quick to defend against it.
Shay throws a series of strikes that have Mendoza backpedaling.
Mendoza bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shay's head.
Mendoza is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Shay changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Mendoza lands with a nice combination. Shay backs away looking to recover.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shay throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mendoza sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Mendoza shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shay as he avoids it easily.

Shay throws a hook to the side of Mendoza's head but Mendoza sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Shay half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Mendoza has Shay up against the cage in a clinch.
Shay has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mendoza after a bit of a struggle.

Mendoza is pressed up against the cage. Shay has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mendoza down to the mat. Mendoza avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mendoza, as that shot connected.

Mendoza throws a looping overhand right but Shay ducks down to avoid it.
Shay stuffs the takedown attempt from Mendoza. Mendoza gets slowly back to his feet.
Tevin Shay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Mendoza.

and Shay counters with a nice uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shay circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mendoza misses with a looping right.
Mendoza changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shay tries to avoid it but Mendoza manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shay to the ground. Shay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shay is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendoza pulls his head out easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Tevin Shay will probably get the nod.

Shay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mendoza manages to avoid it.

Mendoza has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shay can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mendoza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mendoza escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mendoza has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shay is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mendoza.

Mendoza has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Shay celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
