Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Evan Knuckle (ranked 24350 p4p, 3707 weight class) and Joao Gabriel (ranked 522 p4p, 413 weight class). Gabriel has chosen Circo das Galinhas as his entrance music. Joao Gabriel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Evan Knuckle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Gabriel!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knuckle lands with a nice body kick.

and Gabriel decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Knuckle's guard.

Gabriel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gabriel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gabriel connects with a nice short shot to Knuckle's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Knuckle is rocked!

Gabriel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Knuckle defends it well.
Oh Knuckle is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gabriel looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Gabriel is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Knuckle doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gabriel.

Gabriel lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Knuckle quite badly. Knuckle pulls Gabriel in close trying to recover. Gabriel postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Knuckle on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Knuckle doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joao Gabriel!
A pretty intense looking Joao Gabriel took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
Evan Knuckle was interviewed post fight and said 'He was lucky'.
