Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hiroshi Gomi (ranked 1967 p4p, 1430 weight class) and Jake Askren (ranked 141 p4p, 107 weight class). Gomi comes to the cage accompanied by The Only Thing They Fear is You- DOOM Eternal OST. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 1, fighting out of London, Jake Askren!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Askren has Gomi up against the cage in a clinch.
Gomi has had enough of the clinch but Askren keeps him there for the moment.
Gomi tries to circle away but Askren has him pinned against the cage.
Gomi is trying to break the clinch but Askren has him pressed against the cage.
Gomi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gomi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Askren has Gomi pressed against the cage, preventing Gomi from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gomi is looking to break free of the clinch but Askren has double underhooks.

Gomi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fighters circling - Gomi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters circling - Gomi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Gomi throws a shot from downtown. Askren moves away and avoids it.
Gomi throws out a loose jab but Askren uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gomi is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Askren looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Gomi throws a big shot that misses.
Gomi is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Gomi misses with an uppercut. Askren saw that one coming.
Askren avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Askren wants to counter the offense by Gomi and move into the clinch position.
Jake Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gomi tries to keep at a distance but Askren has taken the fight into the clinch.

Askren keeps control of Gomi as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Askren changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gomi fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gomi throws a hook but Askren avoids it easily.
Gomi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gomi wants it to stay on the feet.

and Gomi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gomi throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Askren to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Gomi counters with a straight right hand.
Gomi misses the shot to the body.
Gomi throws a series of punches but Askren avoids them all with ease.
Askren uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gomi.
Gomi circles away from the clinch attempt
and Gomi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

and Gomi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gomi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Askren is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Gomi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Askren can do to turn this around?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gomi wobbles Askren with a right hand and the left hook that follows puts him on his rear! Gomi dives in with a huge flying punch that connects right on the button and puts Askren to sleep! - What a violent and spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Hiroshi Gomi!
A relieved looking Hiroshi Gomi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
