PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Ibriam (ranked 4053 p4p, 4103 weight class) and Jones Jon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Tim Ibriam has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tim Ibriam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jones Jon!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jon dives in and scores a takedown into Ibriam's guard.
Jon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ibriam is trying to hold Jon in close to prevent damage but Jon has managed to pass into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jon wants to pass the guard but Ibriam is defending well.

Jon decides to stand and escape the position.

Ibriam throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jon was covering up waiting for the punch and Ibriam finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jon manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Jon is trying to drag Ibriam to the mat but Ibriam just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Ibriam's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Jon wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Ibriam shoots in but no luck this time.
Ibriam slips a jab and a cross from Jon.
Ibriam shoots for a double leg takedown but Jon sprawls well. He's pushed Ibriam's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jon unleashes a big counter combination but Ibriam bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ibriam thuds his right hand into Jon's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ibriam slips a jab from Jon.
Jon sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Ibriam closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ibriam wants to get back to striking at distance but Jon won't allow it.
Ibriam is trying to push Jon away but Jon has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Jon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ibriam tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jon tries for a takedown but Ibriam circles away easily
and Jon takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jon shoots for a double leg takedown but Ibriam sprawls well. He's pushed Jon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ibriam closes the distance and clinches.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ibriam was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Ibriam closes the distance and clinches up with Jon, looking for a takedown. Ibriam pushes Jon against the cage but Jon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ibriam.
Jon cracks Ibriam with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jon throws a right and a left that Ibriam avoids nicely.
Jon throws a sloppy head kick and Ibriam moves out of range easily.

Ibriam shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Jon has his feet on Ibriam's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Ibriam wanted to stand there but Jon had control of the position.

Ibriam drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jon dives on top into guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ibriam is looking for a sweep. Jon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Jon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ibriam as he jumps to the side.
Jon goes for a double leg but Ibriam avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ibriam continues to drive forward.
Ibriam throws a series of punches but Jon avoids them all with ease.
Jon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ibriam manages to avoid it.
Ibriam throws a nice outside leg kick.
Jon is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
