Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Kong (ranked 2046 p4p, 2938 weight class) and Jean Francois LaFleur (ranked 248 p4p, 347 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LaFleur drops Kong with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kong looks back up at him and smiles so LaFleur waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Kong tries to bum rush LaFleur with a series of wild strikes but LaFleur uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've been told by Kong's head coaches at Sydney Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kong is trying to push LaFleur away but LaFleur has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from LaFleur in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
