Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Roussel (ranked 312 p4p, 1232 weight class) and Jun Liu (ranked 41 p4p, 159 weight class). Roussel comes into the arena with Manau - J'ai laissé là bas blaring out of the sound system. Dexter Roussel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dexter Roussel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jun Liu!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roussel on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Liu looks to land a left hand but Roussel moved out of range nicely.
Liu misses with a looping left.
Liu throws a leg kick
and Roussel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Liu swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Liu lands with a hook. Roussel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Liu feints and then cracks Roussel's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Roussel down.
Liu throws a head kick but Roussel moves out of range.
Roussel throws the left hand but Liu avoids the punch easily.
Liu replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Roussel blocks it well.
Roussel bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

It looks like Jun Liu has been cut.
Liu connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Roussel momentarily.
Liu lands with a kick to the temple. Roussel shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

It looks like Dexter Roussel has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Roussel counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Liu felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Roussel is nestled in close to Liu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

It looks like Roussel has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

and Roussel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jun Liu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Liu pushes Roussel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Roussel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Roussel creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Liu sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Liu avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Roussel.
The ground and pound from Roussel seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Roussel seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roussel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Roussel loads up on a big left hand. Liu felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Roussel looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Liu can't hide his disappointment, as Roussel celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dexter Roussel!
Dexter Roussel decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
