Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kadyn Smith (ranked 2972 p4p, 4200 weight class) and Bruce Castillo (ranked 0 p4p, 320 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kadyn Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bruce Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to clinch but Castillo is having none of it.

Castillo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Smith to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Castillo tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Smith has control of Castillo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Castillo regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Smith escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Castillo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Smith throws a body punch but Castillo moves out of range.

Smith goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Castillo rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Smith's guard! Nice work there by Castillo!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.

Smith stands and throws Castillo's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Smith cracks Castillo with a big right hand but Castillo just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Castillo looks to move to half guard but instead Smith has passed into mount! Damn!
Smith breaks from Castillo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Castillo tries to control the position but Smith now has his back.
Smith scores with strikes from the back.

Smith is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Smith gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Smith gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Smith apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Castillo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Castillo lands in his opponent's guard.
Castillo wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Smith scores with a nice shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Smith pulls Castillo in close to his closed guard and prevents Castillo from doing any damage or advancing position.
