Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Lake (ranked 4333 p4p, 2985 weight class) and Terrell Yates (ranked 264 p4p, 203 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Lake!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terrell Yates!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake misses with a takedown
and Yates counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Yates scores with a jab to the body.
Yates slaps away a takedown attempt from Lake, before circling back to the center of the mat.

No luck for Lake with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Lake. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lake shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Yates counters with a nice uppercut.
Yates lands the left hand.

Lake is rocked!

It looks like Jack Lake has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lake.

Yates cracks Lake with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Lake shoots in but Yates avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Yates connects with a body shot that sends Lake's belly button to the back.

Lake drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Yates is not content to let Lake control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Yates's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Yates wants to get back to his feet.
Yates tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lake wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lake wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yates keeps working.

Lake thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Yates can't do much from the bottom here.

Lake is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yates knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Yates tries to bench press Lake off him but Lake keeps the position.

Lake is trying to get an arm triangle but Yates is defending well.

Yates tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Yates gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Lake really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Yates tries to roll over but Lake keeps him under control.
Yates is controlling Lake's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Lake is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Lake is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yates is just riding it out for now. Lake eventually gives up the hold.
Yates felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Lake wants to take a breather but Yates is having none of it.

Lake is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Yates sees it coming and defends easily.
Yates is staying active underneath Lake, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Lake is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lake is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Yates has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are battling for position here. Yates manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Yates pulls Lake in close to prevent any damage.
Lake trying to control but Yates is working from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yates pulls Lake in to control the position.
Let's hope that Yates has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Lake wants to control from the top but Yates keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Terrell Yates is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Yates lands a body shot.

Lake closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yates did well to prevent Lake getting side control.

Lake is trying to work for a kimura but Yates is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lake is working for a kimura but Yates is defending it quite comfortably.
Yates moves into full guard.

Yates looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lake trying to control the position from guard on top but Yates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lake thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lake wants to control from the top but Yates keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lake trying to control the position from guard on top but Yates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Yates lands a really nice looking cross but Lake seems unphased.
A solid leg kick lands there for Yates.
Lake fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Yates avoids it really well and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lake is defended easily by Yates.
Yates thinks about the counter body kick.

That's nine minutes gone in the round.
Lake walks into a straight right hand from Yates.
Yates fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lake looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Good exchange - Yates coming out on top.
Yates connects with a solid leg kick.
Lake on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lake takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Oh Lake is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Yates listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Yates throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Terrell Yates dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jack Lake's cut.
That's time! Lake's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A punch lands to the side of Lake 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Yates with the inside leg kick.
Lake shoots in for a takedown but Yates shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Yates scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lake seems to have got his legs back now.
A nice inside leg kick there by Yates. That's going to slow Lake down.
Yates lands a lovely overhand right.
Yates scores with a jab to the head.
Yates keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yates pushes Lake off and gets back to his feet.

and Yates counters with a head kick that drops Lake to the mat! Lake scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Terrell Yates seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Yates is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Lake like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Lake from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Terrell Yates!
