PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shaman Weaver (ranked 3407 p4p, 3650 weight class) and Taekn Arrms (ranked 375 p4p, 390 weight class). Weaver comes to the cage accompanied by Close Your Eyes by Acen. The key to victory for Shaman Weaver has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shaman Weaver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Taekn Arrms!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arrms fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Arrms shoots in and bounces Weaver off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Weaver is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Weaver is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Weaver had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Arrms defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Arrms throws a big elbow that misses.
Arrms content to stall in guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Arrms won't allow Weaver to sweep him here.
Arrms slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Weaver is letting Arrms control him for a moment.
Arrms trying to control the position but Weaver is working away.

Let's hope that Arrms has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Weaver is trying to improve his position.
Weaver takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Weaver tries to improve position but can't.
Weaver manages to get back to half guard.
Arrms performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The fighters are battling for position here. Weaver manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Arrms slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Weaver is controlling Arrms's posture.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Weaver keeping moving, preventing Arrms from controlling successfully.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Arrms closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Weaver's guard.
Arrms missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Arrms avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Arrms is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Weaver keeping moving, preventing Arrms from controlling successfully.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Arrms working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Arrms tries to pass to full mount but Weaver defends it.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Arrms trying to control but Weaver is working from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Taekn Arrms dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Arrms feints and as Weaver raises his hands in defense, Arrms changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Shaman Weaver has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Weaver throws a right hand that Arrms ducks under and follows up with a left that Arrms also avoids with ease.

Arrms seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Weaver tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Arrms's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weaver controls Arrms momentarily but Arrms frees himself.
Taekn Arrms has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Arrms stopping the sweep attempt from Weaver.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Arrms shoots in for a double leg but Weaver sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Arrms changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Weaver tries to avoid it but Arrms manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Weaver to the ground. Weaver escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Weaver gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Arrms is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Arrms with a flurry of punches that miss.
Weaver trying to keep a closed guard but Arrms is proving a slippery customer.
Arrms seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Arrms is posturing up here but Weaver has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Arrms tries to roll out but it's too tight and Arrms has to tap! Slick submission there by Weaver!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Shaman Weaver!
Shaman Weaver seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
