PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Lima (ranked 648 p4p, 1780 weight class) and Toti Rotiz (ranked 101 p4p, 259 weight class). Rotiz has chosen Southtown as his entrance music. Toti Rotiz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricardo Lima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Toti Rotiz!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lima fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rotiz misses with the combination.
Lima moves out of range of the body kick.
Lima shoots in looking for a takedown. Rotiz tries to sprawl out of it but Lima keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rotiz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lima shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Lima. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lima darts in looking for a takedown but Rotiz gets double underhooks and turns Lima into the cage.
A little jabbing left from Rotiz on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Lima keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rotiz's efforts to push away.
Lima fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Lima ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lima no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Rotiz distracts Lima with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rotiz wanted to stand there but Lima had control of the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rotiz is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Lima has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rotiz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lima is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rotiz is aware though and is defending well.

Lima is trying to move to mount but Rotiz reverses beautifully and ends up in Lima's guard.
Lima bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rotiz's guard.

A close round but Toti Rotiz will probably get the nod.

Lima decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lima throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lima wants to take a breather but Rotiz is having none of it.

Lima wants to work for an arm triangle but Rotiz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lima thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rotiz's head.
Lima is trying to control the action in half guard but Rotiz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rotiz looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rotiz is refusing to be controlled, as Lima sits in half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lima looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Lima moves out of range of the body kick.
Rotiz misses with a straight left.
Toti Rotiz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lima tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rotiz defends well and Lima ends up having to push Rotiz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Lima pushes off an throws an elbow but Rotiz leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Rotiz tries to break the clinch but Lima is controlling the position.

Lima has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lima has his foot on Rotiz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rotiz works his way back into a safe position though.

Rotiz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lima has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rotiz has managed to get both his arms back between Lima's legs - danger averted.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Toti Rotiz!
Toti Rotiz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
