Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida misses with a wild combination.

Machida rushes Maia and presses him up against the cage.
Maia jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Machida walks away with a smile on his face. Maia gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Machida clinches.
Machida tries to pull guard but Maia holds him up against the cage and eventually Machida drops back down to his feet.

Machida turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Machida manages to end up in side control.
Maia wants to control but Machida postures up.
Machida is looking to take a break and control but Maia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Maia bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Machida changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Maia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Maia manages to work his way to half guard, despite Machida's best efforts.
Maia moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Maia is looking for a triangle but Machida pushes his legs off easily.

Maia had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Machida is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Maia Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Machida's back instead.

Machida wants to control his opponent's hands but Maia gets his hands free.
Machida rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Machida tries to roll over but Maia keeps him under control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Machida flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Maia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Machida doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Maia.

Maia is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Machida defends it well.

Maia in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Machida tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Maia!
