Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Seagal (ranked 2689 p4p, 3028 weight class) and Garry East (ranked 310 p4p, 344 weight class). Jake Seagal has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jake Seagal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Garry East!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seagal takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Seagal shoots in but no luck this time.
Seagal does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Seagal rushes East and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

East breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Seagal keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Seagal seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Seagal scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
East keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

East closes the distance and clinches up with Seagal, looking for a takedown. East pushes Seagal against the cage but Seagal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

East tries to counter with a clinch but Seagal shakes him off and moves away.

and East holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Seagal has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics East uses from the top position.

Seagal is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and East dives into side control.

My spies in Rio Grappling Club inform me that East has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
You can see the frustration on Seagal's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
East throws a strike aimed at the side of Seagal's head but Seagal avoids it well.

East shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Seagal sprawls well. Seagal wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. East gets slowly back to his feet.

East stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Seagal swivels though and keeps the full guard.

East decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Seagal, up you get!

East throws a half hearted mid kick.
East shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Seagal pinned against the cage. Seagal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Seagal keeps the fight on the outside.
East has his takedown stuffed

and Seagal counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

East manages to break the clinch.

Oooooh!!! Seagal has knocked East down with a huge combo! Seagal steps away and waves a wobbly East back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Garry East has been cut.
Seagal shoots in for a takedown but East shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Seagal is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Seagal jumps guard but East stands there with Seagal around his waist. Seagal gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Seagal isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. East stacks Seagal on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by East!

We've been hearing good reports from Seagal's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
East working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
