Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tim Cassidy (ranked 4197 p4p, 4196 weight class) and Marshall Jacobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Jacobson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Jacobson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

It looks like Tim Cassidy has been cut.
Jacobson is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Jacobson stuffs the takedown.
Jacobson is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Cassidy with a body shot.
Jacobson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Cassidy gets the takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jacobson pushes Cassidy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cassidy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Cassidy decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jacobson to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jacobson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cassidy in his tracks.
Jacobson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cassidys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Nice uppercut there from Jacobson.

Cassidy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cassidy lands in his opponent's guard.

Cassidy is stalling in the full guard.
Cassidy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Cassidy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jacobson parries the strikes from Cassidy easily there. Cassidy is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Jacobson to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cassidy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jacobson looks a forlorn figure.

Cassidy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A close round but Marshall Jacobson will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

letting Jacobson counter with a right hand.
Jacobson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Jacobson swats away the attempt to clinch by Cassidy.

Cassidy tries for a takedown but Jacobson circles away easily
and Jacobson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cassidy throws a right and a left that Jacobson avoids nicely.

Cassidy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jacobson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cassidy is in Jacobson's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cassidy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cassidy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jacobson pinned against the cage. Jacobson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Cassidy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cassidy takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Cassidy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jacobson finds it's way round the side to connect with Cassidy's head.
Nice uppercut lands for Jacobson. That snapped Cassidy's head back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Marshall Jacobson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cassidy is taking a breather. Jacobson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Cassidy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Well, if Cassidy is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cassidy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Marshall Jacobson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Cassidy will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cassidy dives in and grabs Jacobson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jacobson pushes down on Cassidy's head and hops out.

Marshall Jacobson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jacobson sizes up Cassidy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cassidy throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jacobson's waist but Jacobson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cassidy off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Cassidy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Jacobson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Cassidy tries to close the distance and clinch but Jacobson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cassidy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jacobson swivels and escapes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jacobson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Cassidy. Cassidy circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Cassidy darts in trying to clinch
and Jacobson counters with a nice uppercut.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marshall Jacobson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jacobson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
