Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Race Luguano (ranked 4352 p4p, 4258 weight class) and Phillip Gunner (ranked 321 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunner swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Luguano cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gunner drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

It looks like Phillip Gunner has been cut.

Luguano has taken the fight to the clinch.
Luguano tries to break the clinch but Gunner is controlling the position.
Luguano is working for takedown but Gunner is calmly controlling the position for now.

Luguano turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Luguano manages to end up in side control.
Gunner is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Luguano off and has taken his back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Luguano is really stuck here.
Will Gunner go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Luguano tries to roll but Gunner sticks to his back.

Gunner controlling the position well here. Luguano rolled but Gunner kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Luguano is trying to get back to his feet but Gunner has full control of the position and if anything, Luguano has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Luguano manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Luguano swats away the attempt to clinch by Gunner.

Gunner fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Luguano to the ground. Gunner is now in Luguano's guard.

Luguano has his foot on Gunner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gunner works his way back into a safe position though.

Gunner looking to sit in guard and control but Luguano gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gunner looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Luguano is fending him off so far but Gunner persists. Nope, Luguano circles away and we're back to standing.
Gunner tries to clinch up.

Gunner wants to control but Luguano is keeping him busy.
Luguano is looking for a sweep.
Gunner is trying to move to mount but Luguano reverses beautifully and ends up in Gunner's guard.

Luguano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gunner on the ground.
Gunner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gunner.
Luguano is pushing down on Gunner's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gunner is fighting to maintain full guard but Luguano has managed to sneak the leg through.
Luguano thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gunner's head.
Gunner wants to improve his position but Luguano is controlling well.
Luguano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gunner keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Luguano content to control rather than advance.
Luguano is thwarting Gunner's attempts to control the position.
Luguano misses with a head shot. Gunner uses the momentum to regain guard.
Gunner tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gunner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Gunner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Luguano controls the pace.
Luguano has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gunner controls Luguano momentarily but Luguano frees himself.

Gunner is breathing heavily.
Gunner lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Gunner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Luguano swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Luguano throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Gunner is rocked!
Gunner get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Gunner stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Luguano runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!
