PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 3817 p4p, 24646 weight class) and Jett Fletcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fletcher has chosen Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jett Fletcher!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fletcher pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Fletcher circles away.
Fletcher dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Fletcher's head and hops out.
Fletcher darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Fletcher into the cage.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Fletcher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fletcher tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch.
Fletcher fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Jon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jett Fletcher.
Fletcher jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Fletcher gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jon Jones.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
